System software consists of several programs that creates an environment for application software. It supports the operation of a computer system. It entirely depends on the machine on whihc it is operated. It hides the complexities of the machine so that the user can focus on an application.

Systems software is much needed one as it controls some of the aspects of operation of a computer. The operations include file operation, I/O operation and memory management.
