What is software?
Software is a set of programs, documentation and data. It consists of programs, configuration files that explains how to set up the programs, system documentation that explains the structure of the system, and user documentation that explains how to use the software. Software is abstract and tangible.
There are two types of software: application software and system software.
Software engineers develop software products meant to be sold to customers. There are two types of software products: generic products and customized products.
